GROUP MEMBERS SAFEGUARDING CONSULTATION 

Glynneath News & Views exists to provide an up to date information portal and to promote discussion about social, business, cultural, political and any other subject matter relevant to the community of Glynneath and its principle satellite villages such as Pontwalby, Cwmgwrach and Blaengwrach.

However, the internet is in the main is unregulated and members in groups such as ours can be the targets of the criminal and unwelcome actions of undesirable elements within our society. Following the arrest of a suspected paedophile within Glynneath during the last couple of months and the fact that the very same person joined a FB group in Glynneath similar to ours (but not ours), we thought it pertinent to create a safeguarding process for the group so that if any members have concerns, there is a process that can be followed to allay members concerns and to keep our community safe.

Presently the group is organised by 4 admins and initially we have appointed one of our admins as a Safeguarding Officer to oversee the consultation process. We anticipate that all reports will flow through the the Safeguarding Officer who will then report any concerns to a Safeguarding Committee made up of the group admins and other group members considered to be knowledgeable in the subject matter for discussion.

The purpose of this post is to consult our members and give you the opportunity to contribute to this process through comments or suggestions that improve, find fault with, or agree with the proposed safeguarding process.
