5/2/2017 - HW NPT TOUR - WALK 22 - PARC SLIP to OGWR RIDGEWAY - 7 miles
View from the Ogwr Ridgeway walk with the Porthcawl Golf Club (I believe) in the foreground and the North Somerset coast in the distance. The clouds are on the English side of the border, there are no clouds in Wales

Today's walk was the start of another leg of our NPT tour. Although outside the county boundary and in Bridgend we felt it was worth the extra distance to be able to walk more of the Ogwr Ridgeway long distance path. Starting at Parc Slip we headed straight up the mountain to the Ridgeway path and followed it for a couple of miles before descending through Craig yr Aber woods alongside the stream Nant Craigyraber which forms the county boundary, we walked on the NPT side. Once at the road we followed this as far as Ffordd-y-Gyfraith then entered the nature reserve again and followed the path back to the centre. |
18/2/2017 - DELILAH DAY AT PONTY MARKET - 4 miles
It's not unusual that we should go walking in Pontypridd, with two of my children currently living there a weekend walk is a family occasion. Simon my youngest lives in Treforest and two weeks ago we walked from his house up the river to the town and feasted on Welsh cakes in the market. This weekend I thought we should do the same but by a different route, past the birthplace (57 Kingsland Terrace) of Ponty's favourite son, Tom Jones. We have great views of the mist on the Graig and the Welsh cakes were as yummy as ever. |
