HEAD OF PLANNING AND PUBLIC
PROTECTION REFUSES TO ANSWER SCRUTINY QUESTIONS
After an exchange of private messages on Facebook and emails, the Chair of the Scrutiny Committee with responsibility for contaminated land Councillor Stephen Karl Hunt agreed to ask questions of the Planning Department for us. We submitted 5 questions to Councillor Hunt, all directed towards the Head of Planning and Public Protection, Ceri Morris. Councillor Hunt met with Head of Planning and others and the group refused to answer the questions. At no point during the exchange with the head of planning etc in relation to contaminated land did SKHU refer to the Contaminated Land Officer. He then backtracked on his original promise to give the planning dept 'a proper grilling' |

This YouTube video shows how the Neath Port Talbot Council Planning Department have approved the planning application P2020/0863 in March 2021 with the sole objective to remove the safety requirement of chemical testing from land that has previously been tested and found to be contaminated with toxic waste. This planning approval allows the developer to break the Control of Pollution Act 1974 and the 1990 Environmental Protection Act to remove toxic waste from the site into a recycling facility in Powys without a licence and also to move it closer to homes in Glynneath which have already suffered deaths that can be linked to toxic waste. Subsequent to this the Chair of the relevant scrutiny committee at the Neath Port Talbot Council can be seen to support the paltering of the public officials he is elected to regulate. |
