On a ride to Aberavon Beach I came across these young bike enthusiasts building themselves a bike park on what they considered to be waste ground. It an empty space therefore its an adaptable play area for youngsters and I hope they are allowed to develop the area further in their own fashion without intrusion from the powers to be.

GREAT RUGBY COLLECTIONS - TERRY AND HOWARD FURLONG, MAESTEG & SWANSEA, WALES

Terry Furlong was for many years the videographer at Maesteg RFC. He passed away in 2012 and one of his last wishes was that his son Howard looked after his rugby memorabilia collection. Howard has enhanced the collection with many additions and has taken the collection to new levels.

In May 2003 Swansea City were starring disaster in the face and they needed to beat Hull City at the vetch Field to stay in the Football League. Up steps Swansea born James Thomas to score in hat trick in one of the most dramatic games in the history of Swansea City. His final goal, a delightful chip over the goalkeeper will be remembered for all eternity by Swans fans around the globe as the goal that saved the Swans. The James Thomas song is sung by Derek Davies (the Bard of Baglan) at the Neath Poems and Pints evening on 8 August 2024.

Three Torfaen Councillors announce that they've joined Reform UK during a media release at the Greenhouse pub in Llantarnam. Lee Anderson the first Reform UK MP welcome the councillors who have formed a Reform Wales UK group at the Torfaen Borough Council. The formerly independent county councillors David Thomas, Jason O’Connell and Alan Slade said they had been drawn to Reform's "common sense" approach to politics.....  more info

The Reform UK parliamentary candidates Ian Williams (Torfaen) and Dai Richards (Neath & Swansea East) in conversation at the grave of Pte John Williams who received a Victoria Cross for his part in the battle of Rorke's Drift on which the film Zulu was based. Ian follows on with details of his own military career.
